The Devil In The Dark

the moon, hit the still waters of the canal -
illuminating my skin, like an extraterrestrial being

barking in the distance, a large dog, silenced
by the devil in the dark

leaves falling, rushing to another winter -
the howl of my heart, composed

an autumn blizzard, free from the past, the present,
the future

apathetic, alone, cold, liberated from the indifference
of a life not lived.
